Q: How to manage side effects of Remeron (Soltab)? I just had a panic attack after taking it in overdose..?
This last December I thought of committing suicide and I saw the Remeron on my cabinet. I took 6 tablets of Remeron and feels dizzy and slept. Now I think I have a Panic Attack... I'm feeling fear which i don't normally has and my heart's pump like i'm dying... please anyone i need to know how to overcome this side effects.
A: Just take 30 mg. of remeron a night. It should help you sleep, and it helps with depression. Never try to OD on any drug. I took 100 fioricets and lived. I was in the ER for four days. It was a painful mistake that hurt my mom to see me in the ER. They also took away my medication for a long time. Just take remeron and all medication like it's prescribed. If you are having serious anxiety attacks then talk to your doctor about klonopin 2 mg. four times a day.
Q: Are the side effects of Remeron bad for your health over time?
I've read that Remeron decreases white blood cells. Over time can't this be very dangerous? we need white blood cells to fight infection right? Why would this be a good drug to prescribe?
A: I use this site to look up all the drugs I take.
it is a user site and has lots of info

Q: remeron side effects?
has anyone ever taken remeron?
my psych. presribed 15mg as well as 250 effexor for MDD, he said the high dose of effexor should boost my energy, but im already feelin the side effects from the remeron, its making me feel very woozy and tired, like im walking on air, i dont like it, and i wanted to know if anyone else has had the same effects
A: I have been taking remeron for over a year. I take 30 mg at bedtime. It does make me drowsy, but since I take it at bedtime, that is a good thing. See if it is okay for you to take it at bedtime.
Q: Remeron side effects?
I started taking Remeron (mirtazapine or whatever) 2 months ago. 3 weeks ago my dr upped the meds by 1/2 a pill. It seemed to work in the beginning but now doesn't seem to affect my depression. I'm tired all the time, it seems. I cannot satisfy my appetite, especially for sweets and have gained a significant amount of weight for my body type too.
Have you had any of these side effects while taking Remeron? Did it ever start working again for you after it seemed to stop working? Thanks for any opinions on it.
A: Well, that reminds me of my experience with Remeron about a year ago. I was on 30mg at first and it seemed to work as I felt very much better but it comes with a side-effect of swollen feet (my doc termed it as water-retention).
But along the way, I injured myself from a fall and got injuries on my legs. The 'water-retention' make water to ooze out from my wounds and I had to stop taking the Remeron to let my wounds heal.
After my wounds have healed, I tried Remeron again telling my doc that I don't mind the water-retention as I was feeling good on Remeron before. But this time it didn't work. Then the dosage was increased to 45mg and it still didn't work. Tried at 60mg and still not working this time round. So, I quit the Remeron after that.
As for appetite, yes I did eat more and I also craved for sweet things when on Remeron.
Just to share my experience with you.
Take Good Care,
Depwill
Q: Sexual side effects of Xanax, Remeron and Toprol.?
My husband has been on Xanax, Remeron and Toprol for several years and has been having sexual side effects from the meds. What can be done if anything to help increase his sexual desire?
A: Maybe he should switch to Klonopin, for anxiety And Tenormin instead of Toprol And Lamictal for depression
Q: Has anyone tried Remeron? what side effects / benefits did you get from it?
I have sleep problems with Zoloft, and want to switch. One doctor suggested Remeron, while another thinks I should stay on Zoloft! I don't get good sleep on 50mg zoloft, and constipation is really bad too. I seem to be losing my hair on Zoloft as well....... So I need something that makes me sleep better, but also improves anxiety, and depression... Thanks
A: hi i used to be on zoloft until it stopped working, i am on celexa and remeron, and have no more problems with anxiety, and i used to wake up everynight to go pee, not anymore, but the first week you may feel out of it, but that goes away and you feel very refreshed, ive been on it for 9 months, and wow, its really nice to feel better and to sleep good
Q: My 8 yr old son started on a new medication called Remeron, does anyone know the side effects of this drug?
He has ADHD so he also started on Concerta 18mg. in which I am familiar with. But Remeron is a drug I do not know anything about except it is an anti-depressant. The doctor wants him on Concerta in the morning and the Remeron at 7:00 at night. Does any body have any experience with this drug Remeron and it's side effects in children? Does anyone have kids on this medication?
Thanks in advance

Q: Has anyone else had weird side effects from REMERON/mirtazapine??
I've been taking Remeron for anxiety for about 5 days. The first two days I slept pretty much all day. When I wake up I feel like my vision is blurry, and I can barely lift my arms I feel so weak. I could sleep all day.
I also have a huge appetite and I'm afraid of gaining a lot of weight (which I hear is a side effect).
I feel like I have a hang over or something. I'm out of it, I can't think and I have no energy. I've also been having really crazy vivid dreams.
Has anyone else had these experiences on Remeron? Do these side effects go away? Does the medicine work for anxiety?
A: I can only speak of my own experiences with it but..yes, i had all of those on and off during the 6 years i was on remeron.
Often i slept 10-12 hours a day, sometimes more. I was weak, and tired A LOT!
I never really got hungry a lot, in fact it was quite the opposite, i was never hungry. yet somehow i managed to gain quite a bit of weight.
The big thing i realized about remeron is that it "dulled" me. Once i got used to it, i became numb to almost everything, i had no opinions, no desires, no wishes, no real life. Friends and family became more distant, they were there, but just not really important to me anymore.
Of course i was unable to see any of this when i was on it. It was only when i stopped taking it (half way through my senior year in HS) that i realized how it had effected me.
to answer your last question, did it work?
yes and no, it made my anxiety bearable, but i definitely still felt it. Mostly it just took the edge off.
Personally, looking back, i wish i hadn't stayed on it for so long. Those 6 years flew by so fast, and i have very few memories of them because i was so numb to everything.
As i said in the beginning, this was MY experience with that stuff. Hopefully yours will be better!
Q: I am taking Remeron for PTSD and have side effects?
I just started taking it and helped nightmares and sleep. My problem is that while allot of the other stuff is better when I wake up I feel weak or like something is not working!
A: When I was on Remeron for depression I had a similar side effect - when I woke up, I felt as if my hands and arms were "numb" or "tingly" feeling, like I couldn't grip onto things properly. This went away for me throughout the day, and I figured it had to do with the fact that I was sleeping so hard, I probably wasn't moving around a lot in my sleep. If you sleep in one position for too long without moving you can pinch a nerve in your back/neck that can temporarily cut off circulation to the area, causing the weak/tingly feeling. When I took Remeron I felt like someone had hit me with a horse tranq, so the idea of pinching a nerve in my sleep didn't seem unlikely to me at all.
I ended up having to stop taking the drug, even though it seemed to be working well for me, because of the heavy sedation. I couldn't function, I could barely drive my car. My doctor said the sedated feeling would eventually go away, but it wasn't going away fast enough for me to function in my daily life. Try getting a new (fuller) pillow to elevate yourself slightly when you sleep - that will help prevent you from pinching nerves while you sleep, and may help with that weak feeling. Good luck!
Q: Will side effects for Mirtazapine/Remeron go away?
My doctor prescribed Mirtazapine/Remeron at the lowest dose (15mg) for agoraphobia, anxiety, and insomnia. I've been taking it for a week. I'm tired all the time now, extremely out of it like i'm not quite awake. I have poor balance, a heavy feeling, mental imagery every time i close my eyes, and vivid dreams. For the moment, these aren't so bad because I'm at home, but if I need to go out, I'm worried these things might be obvious to other people or will make me unable to function. Will these side effects disappear and if so, when? Should I continue taking it? Is it alright to stop for a couple days? Might things get better if my doctor prescribes a higher dose?
A: When I took Mirtazapine I took it before bed to help me sleep. Maybe it is too sedating for you to take during the day. Talk to your doctor about your concerns. I hope you will be doing better. Good Luck.
Q: what are the side effects of Remeron?
A: The most common side effects include agitation, dry mouth, insomnia, sedation, headache, nausea and vomiting, constipation, and tremors.
Q: What side effects have you noticed when taking MIRTAZAPINE/Remeron?
So far I have noticed that I am extra hungry BUT I am retaining a lot of fluid (which is very uncomfortable) and some bizarre dreams...
A: It is probably being caused from the Remeron. Hunger and weight gain are two of the side effects from the drug and so are some of your bizarre dreams. I am bipolar and was taking Remeron for a while and i started gaining weight and having weird dreams. I told my Psychiatrist about it and he changed my medication to Seroquel but as with any psychotropic drug they all have their side effects. You need to talk to your doctor.
Q: What's the most effective medications for generalized anxiety disorder that aren't addictive/min. side effects
I'm 38 years old and have tried many medications over the years that, unfortunately, haven't been effective. Most of those medications were for depression (Paxil, Wellbutrin, Remeron.) The side effects for those medications made them not even worth taking. (e.g. got more depressed, felt like I was mentally numb and emotionless.) So, my psychiatrist is now focusing on my anxiety, which seems to be my prominent issue. He is thinking about putting me on Gabitril or Neurontin. Any thoughts on those medications--my big concern is side effects/effectiveness?
The only medication that works for my anxiety is klonopin. However, I'm concerned about its addictive characteristics.
My primary anxiety symptoms are an overactive mind that won't turn off, heart racing, chest pain, stomach problems and insomnia. Would you have any suggestions/feedback on effective medications for me with minimal side effects? (FYI-I'm also exercising, meditating, etc.) Thank you very much.
A: I have had success with Effexor with is primarily used to treat depression, but I had little success with others. I did experience some side effects however after about a week, these subsided. Most of these drugs are not addictive in themselves, but as someone with generalized anxiety, you know yourself that you will become dependant on them. For me, I weighed the pro's and con's of needing a drug vs. not being able to be a productive member of society, I decided that it was in my best interest. Prozac is another drug that seems to be successful with anxiety.
Something else to consider is cognitive-behavoural therapy. Since you are already meditating youseem to be open to these concepts. This therapy helps you to change your thinking while you are experiencing anxiety ie: changing negative thoughts to positive I spent a few sessions with a psychologist to learn these techniques, and found them quite useful. Hope this helps!
Q: My husband and I have both just started taking Remeron (Mirtazapine), will we have the same side effects ?
A: Each person responds to medication differently, based on their unique metabolisms. You could have some of the same side effects and also very different ones, including none at all.
Q: How long does it take for the side effects of a medication to go away, after I stop taking it?
I'm a 38 year old man, and I have been taking Remeron, an anti-depressant, for about five years. Two weeks ago, I stopped taking them (behavioural therapy has been successful enough that I don't need them). However, I still have some of the side effects, most annoyingly the delay in achieving orgasm. How long will it take for the side effects to go away? My girlfriend complains that I "take too long" sometimes, and I find it frustrating. Will this effect be permanent? Please advise.
A: First of all, let me reassure you that two weeks of discontinued use is not a long time for all of the effects of this med to be eliminated. I have taken numerous ADs over the last five years (Paxil, Celexa, Remeron, Luvox, Zoloft), not to mention the benzos. I am a bit surprised that you experienced 'delayed ejaculation' with Remeron. The wonderful side effect ( interpret saracasm here), is usually reserved for the SSRIs. As you probably know, Remeron is not a true SSRI and therefore typically does not exhibit all of the same side-effects. I used Remeron for about 2 years with varying success. The 'delayed ejaculation', problem you mention is very common in SSRIs and I too became very frustrated with that same side effect especially with Paxil. At the risk of TMI, my response time went from 15-20 minutes to well over 60 minutes typically. Some times my wife and I just gave up in frustration, so my heart is with you on this one. Anyway, with all that said, I think that you have nothing to worry about in the long run. My typical sexual response time was back to normal within a few months of switching to a low dose (25 mg) of Zoloft. So, the effects of Remeron should dissapate soon. Try to relax. Sometimes the effects of stress (worry) have more to do with things than we realize. Good luck, -Rob
