I am planning on taking a xanny tonight and I want to get messed up and still remember the night. My friends plan on drinking with the xanaxs but I don't. I'm about 240 lbs. and never taken a xanax before what would be the best dosage to take and how long would I be messed up for? Is .25 mg the least potent.
A: Xanax's do not come in the milligram as the one mentioned above. They come in .25, .50 & 1 mg. Yes, the point 25 is the lesser milligams of the three.
Don't let the low dosage fool you. The 1 mg. are very strong.
If you don't have a script for them, you shouldn't take them, but you probably already know that.

A: The largest dose of Xanax XR is a 3 mg tablet. The largest dose of regular Xanax is 2 mg.
Doctors have no limitations on how much they can prescribe. It would be strange to take Xanax XR four times daily (12 mg). But when people take regular Xanax, it would be taken 4 times a day for it to work all day. So if a person is using Xanax for a full day's worth of coverage then 120 tablets would be needed every month. So there are no limits. The FDA maximum dose is 10 mg/day but doctors are allowed to prescribe more as they see fit.

A: I'm a nurse. Any medication in excess can be lethal. I would recommend you talk with the person to get help. It's really hard to say the amount because if the person has the medication in their system, it wouldn't be too many. I would watch their intake if you can. Offer them the option to see their doctor. A: It depends on whether or not you are going to a chain pharmacy like CVS or just a local pharmacy. It all depends on state laws, i would recommend check with a pharmacist at a chain pharmacy, but if they say no, it's probably a legality issue.

A: I take 0.5 as well, but i have to take it every day before bed. There have been times that i just can't get my mind to shut off and I get up and take another xanax. I would not recomend this. Sometimes 0.5 may not be doing the trick, but unless you have the luxury of sleeping in until noon, DON'T take two 0.5 xanax , they will knock you out like a grizzley bear!

A: Discuss it with your dr. I don't know of any alternative meds. The thing to decide is do the benefits to you outweigh the risks to the baby.

A: typically you will get .25 to .50 mg quantity 60 a month some people don't react the same so if they dont work just wait til its time to fill again and talk to Dr dont go in early and say these dont work I took them all. I think the max dose is 3mg or a triple bar and ive seen people prescribed 90 of these a month it all just depends on you

A: Alprazolam (Xanax) has a half life of about 6.3mg in young healthy people, with 11-12 hours being an average. That being said, the peak concentration in the body occurs within 1-2hrs. So if you are drinking 8hrs later you will be fine. And no matter what many say, having a drink or two is fine for most people. And the Xanax will be mostly (if not fully) gone. And Xanax only works for around 4hrs. So the sedation will be gone by the tie you go drinking.

I want to quit xanax. I have only used if off and on for a little less than a month. I only take it when I am experiencing unbearable anxiety, and cannot calm myself. I think I need a different drug, I don't really like feeling high as a kite. Is valium better, and not addictive? A: Try breaking the pills in half when you need to take it. I used to have to take it years ago and they tried me on Valium too. The Valium gave me a hangover type feeling that I did not like so I just took smaller doses of the xanax.

A: None of the side effects of the benzodiazepines is permanent. Also, people frequently tolerate to the side effects after a few months of usage. If the unwanted effects continue, you can ask your MD to switch to a drug with a different profile of side effects. Good luck.

My doctor perscribed me to take Xanax on an as needed bases whenever I feel severe anxiety. However I don't want to get addicted to it so what should be the limit per week.
A: The textbook dose to cause the minimal dependence is 0.25mg per day. Taking this as a baseline, you could probably take 2mg per week, spread out however you need, and experience almost no dependence. That being said, 2mg per week is rather small if you have anxiety daily. Most anxiety patients on Xanax accept beforehand that they will develop some physical dependence, and at the end of treatment they taper the doses slowly under the direction of a doctor, and generally experience minimal withdrawal symptoms which last just a few days.
However I agree with the first answer that the treatment of your anxiety is paramount here, and for reasons that would be off-topic in this answer, my (student) opinion is that optimal symptom relief is more often obtained via longer-duration meds taken at regular intervals. Xanax "as needed" is kind of the opposite of that principle. If it works for you, fantastic, that's the ideal situation. If not, I've given you something to ask your doctor about.

A: i took xanax for 5 months stopped takin it and never had a seizure
