Q: How long do I have to take presidone for hives before I see results? I still itch, 4th day of 40 mg presidone.?
I have one more dose left, should I ask my doctor for a higher dose?

A: You are still being exposed to whatever is causing the allergy. The itch should have resolved by now and most of the hives should be gone. You need to see the doctor right away. If you run out of prednisone the reaction could get MUCH worse!!

Q: Has anyone's " moon face" go down after taking 7.5 mgs of presidone or after 5 mgs?

A: Once you get the prednisone out of your body the moon face will go away.

Q: Is there a test to test your liver function?
I think something is wrong with my liver and I think it is because of the medecations. I am on several medecine for ADHD, Bipolar, depression, anxiety, OCD, and Migraines. My medecines that I have been on in the past include Pazil, Prozac, Adderall, Buspar, The medecines I am on now are I am on Topamax, Lamictal, Macrobid, Focalin, Aterex,( I cant remember), Presidone, Vicodin7.5. I know this is a lot of medecines. Some of them that I am on are for a UTI. The reason I think I have a liver problem is because of family history, medecines, I am 21 with these probs, and when I drink even a wine cooler my chest hurts, It hurts all the way up to my arm. I feel like I am having a heart attack. I dont drink that much. Can anyone relate? I know I have been on more meds in my life for several reason but I am very concerned. The reason I am on so many is because of the Bipolar. I had a breakdown this week and went off the "deep-end" and they put me on some meds to try to help me.

A: There is pacific blood test to check the liver function, which your doctor should be doing when you have your check ups, especially with some of the medications your on. Does your doctor know there is a family history of liver problems? You may need to remind him/her about this. Be guided by your doctor, but always ask questions, when a new drug is introduced, or being stopped. And you are allowed to seek another opinion, if you feel your not being listened too, or your needs etc are not being met. A friend has Bipolar and she had to try quite a few different medications be for she became stable, with a few lengthily stays is hospital, and she has to have regular liver function blood tests due to some of the medications she is taking. Wishing you luck and hopefully doctors can stabilise your Bipolar very soon.

Q: Can a Chronic tooth infection cause Low WBC?
I have had a tooth that has ben bleeding, and infected for 3 months,I realize that this is unhealthy, but i wasnt able to get it pulled at the time.As of now there is a luttle pus pocket in the gum below the tooth, and the tooth no longer hurts,or bleeds.I also couldnt get it pulled because was on Medrol like presidone for a bit,and you cant have dental work done.Than i was on a cream steroid for 5 weeks..Im now able to get it pulled but i had to CBC test and it showed a Low White Blood cell Count, from the Lymphopena (the Leckooytis) are low..Could it be from the the chronic infection,I know its more of a viral,or a HIV thing whwn your WBC is low I was just wondering if a chronic infection could lower that particular white blood cell...Maybe the steroids did??Anybody know?

A: yes infection can lead to low WBC,specially if you have been bleeding, also if you were taking drugs,if you have an inmune disease, folic acid or vit b12 deficiency, you can ask your doctor about medications that increase WBC levels in the meantime you can eat a balanced diet, avoid injury, germs, and rest.

Q: Safely Stopping Prednisone?
My doc put me on Prednisone(10mg) for Laryngitis. She filled my prescription for 3 days, 3 times a day. I'mreceivingg some of the side effects such as abdominal pain and insomnia. I read that stopping Prednisone immediately can cause withdrawl symptoms. Tomorrow is my last day of Presidone. Will 3 days cause a withdrawl effect?

A: Your prescription is for a very short course of Prednisone.....you should not suffer any withdrawal effects.

Q: HELP!!! I have started 9 new meds and now cant stop itching!!!!?
I have started 9 new meds for headaches, Bipolar, &UTI within the last week. I started1 on Sat and 2 hrs later I started itching non stop. Well I went to the ER last night because I itched for over 5 hours straight and they told me it was because of the antibotic(Spectra). I stopped the meds and it has been over 24 hours and i still cant stop itching. Well, tonight when I took my nightly meds, 2 hours later I started itching non stop. I called dr. they told me I was fine because I was breathing(exact words, and I have never talked to this on call dr.) but I am breaking skin because it is soooo bad... When I run water it makes it burn and itch. Med list: I just stopped adderall on Thursday cuz caused high Blood pressure, and I stopped ZOLOFT. I am on Topamax, Lamictal, Macrobid, Focalin, Aterex,( I cant remember), Presidone, Vicodin7.5 My med list is down stairs, but I need help I cant stop itching. Could it be something else beside antibotic. I am also swollen, figgity, tremors,n more

A: You are having a reaction to something you are taking and the fact that you are still breathing (I can't believe a medical professional would say this to you) only means that you aren't having a respiratory reaction. Any medical doctor who is prescribing medications has an obligation to address symptoms caused by them. You could stop taking everything and then take each medication one by one until you find the one causing the problem. Yet, I advise caution because stopping medications without tapering off of them can be more harmful then itching. If you don't have a sensitivity, take some benedryl for the itching, that should work. Then, call your doctor and ask if he or she is planning on addressing this problem or if you should go on ahead and call Jacoby and Myers! Honestly, if your Physician is so sorry that you have to post here to get answers to questions he or she should be answering, you need a new doctor! Good luck.

Q: Is it possible to get a MRSA bump/boil in your mouth?
I have been battling mrsa for over a year. I have had two bumps appear in the back of my mouth near my tonsil in the last three weeks along with severe pain and fatigue. My pcp did blood work, a strep culture, a mono test, and a ct scan of my head, but cannot diagnose me. I have been on Levaquin and Augmentin along with presidone and pain medication. I questioned him about it being mrsa because my body has the same symptoms it has when i have an outbreak, but he told me he couldn't do a culture because of the antibotics I have been on. Thank you in advance for any advice or answers.

A: Yes, it is entirely possible, and probably what you do have. Remember, the MRSA boil CAN be lansed, carefully, by your doctor. The fact that you have been on antibiotics would be good, in the event that you are having it lansed. Be certain to have your doctor do it, since you will need to have the spot where the MRSA is totally deadened, before it is lansed. My adult son had it in his eye area, and it was very sensitive.
