Q: Naltrexone?
I know Naltrexone can be used to block the effects of alcahol "BUT" can it also be used to prevent a hangover if taken just before you collaps (pass out) after a night out on the bottle......
A: i believe naltrexone is only beneficial for cravings, it's supposed to reduce your cravings to want to drink. it's a pill designed to help alcoholics, i don't think it's capable of anything you mentioned.
Q: How does Low Dose Naltrexone help multiple sclerosis?
How long does it take to see benefits of low does Naltrexone? Is this a worthwhile treatment for MS, a disease without a cure?
A: I would email and ask this lady for her opinion:

Q: Is there anything I should avoid before/after taking morphine or naltrexone?
Is it ok to eat chocolate or drink coffee after taking morphine or naltrexone? Or is there anything else I should avoid before/after dose?
Any other risks involved that you would like to mention?
Thanks!
A: Are you taking a naltrexone pill and a morphine pill at the same time? Or are you taking the morphine/naltrexone combo pill? The purpose of naltrexone is to block the effects of opioid (ie, morphine). So, if you are taking the morphine, and then you take the naltrexone, its going to block the action of the morphine. There is a new medication out, a combination of morphine and a small amount of naltrexone, which works as a pain reliever, but it was just approved and I don't even think Its on the market yet. In either case, chocolate and coffee won't cause any adverse reactions if combined with either of those medications, so I don't think you need to be concerned about that. There are other things that don't go so well with morphine, the main one being alcohol, so yeah, don't wash down the morphine with a beer or something. And, of course, as with any medication, do not take it in an excessive dose.
Q: Where can I order naltrexone from without a prescrition.?
I dont have any insurance, where can I order naltrexone from. I have been paying a docter 70bucks a month for my prescription. What a rip off, he would only give me a month at a time. I need an overseas company anybody know of a good one?
A: Reliably, nowhere. Ordering from some "pharmacy" overseas is #1) illegal, #2) not a good idea. Just because you order naltrexone doesn't mean that's what you'll get. If they rip you off, who can you complain to?
Presuming that you're on 50mg daily, $70 is a good price. Do your own price checking.
As for the "one month at a time", I can't blame him. It IS a controlled sustance and it IS prescribed to people with substance abuse problems.
Q: If you a taking naltrexone, is it possible to still get a high form smoking marijuana?
I take this stuff to stop drinking alcohol. I would like to buy a sack of bud but I dont want to waste the 60 bucks if its not going to work.

A: What you are suggesting is illegal. I've sent your question to your local 5-0 so that they can answer you in person.
Q: My treatment wants me to try naltrexone for gambling compulsion. Does anyone know anything about this?
This effectively blocks the receptor, preventing the body from responding to opiates and endorphins.
A: See: NALTREXONE TREATMENT FOR DRUGS, in section 52, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and read the whole section. It is used for alcohol, as well as for other, unrelated medical problems. Q: If naltrexone competes for receptors against drugs in the brain then why do they say?
It does not make you feel anything ? When I take it it makes me have feelings of being well why do they say that it does nothing to ones mood?
A: naltrexone is an opioid antagonist and is used in alcohol dependence & opioid dependence. I haven't noticed any mood changes in patients that take it and I'm unaware of this

Q: How can I get a prescription for LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone) for Multiple Sclerosis if my neuro won't prescribe?
It is not FDA approved for treating MS, but I have found a great deal of people who have MS are on it. How were they able to get the perscription?
A: I took all the info I could gather on LDN and took it to my neurologist. She then gave me a prescription. Ask your GP if he/she will prescribe it for you. I only go to doctors who are open-minded. Any doctor who insists on calling all the shots, I fire. I tell them to their face that I don't like them. LDN works for me. It gave me my life back. The FDA meds did nothing for me.
Q: Can Naltrexone be used with just individual counseling?
I have been offered a chance to go on Naltrexone, but can I remain just seeing my Psychiatrist and Therapist.
A: Yes.
The decision is yours.
You can accept or decline the Naltrexone and can accept or decline individual counseling or choose to do both simultaneously. The combination of medication AND therapy is probably your best bet (particularly with addictions).

Q: Has anyone used Low Dose Naltrexone for Crohns or Multiple Sclerosis?
I know people have used it, but I am looking for personal experiences with it.
A: Your doctor will probably be useless in helping you get any kind of handle on the facts about Low Dose Naltrexone. There is money to be made when doctors prescribe medicines for which the patents have not expired. This is not the case with Naltrexone which has been on the market for almost a quarter of a century. Since your doctor gets his or her info on drugs from the drug reps, they will not be educated about Naltrexone.
I have been taking Low Dose Naltrexone for multiple sclerosis for three and a half years now and it has given me my life back. Prior to taking it, I was on Copaxone and spent the day going from the bed to the sofa and then back again. In short my life was a living hell. Once I started taking Low Dose Naltrexone, I went back to work and the gym and began to have a social life again.
Not everyone who has MS experiences as good a result from Copaxone as I did, but many do in fact have a very positive experience with it. You need to be on the correct dosage of 4.5 milligrams (unless you have spasicitity in which case you need to stay at 3.0 milligrams) and stay on it for at least three months to get the maximum benefit. I do not know the correct dosage for Crohns or any of the other autoimmune diseases-just the correct amount for MS. Keep in mind that that LDN cannot reverse the damage to the myelin. So the LDN will have no effect on any symptom that is the consequence of myelin damage.
Your doctor gets no training in parmaceuticals in medical school. IT is just not part of the curriculum. Drug reps are the ones who educate the doctors on what to give thier patients. Drug reps are rewarded on the basis of promoting the drugs that have the highest profits. These are the drugs that are the newest that still have a patent. Drug companies openly discouage their reps from recommending anything other than drugs upon which they have a patent. They do this by giving bonuses and the highest salaries to the reps who do the best job at promoting the high dollar drugs. Conversely, reps who don't do this are either getting horrendous evaluations or they are already fired. Doctors are also given bonuses by the pharmaceutical companies on the basis of the drugs they prescribe.
As a consequence of the aforementioned, may I suggest that you do your own research. Simply go to LDN.ORG and you will find many, many web sites that have infor on the drug and the various auto-immune diseases for which it is effective. Keep in mind that all the current research indicates that more research needs to be done. This is because giving any drug the total green light always means that they will not get another contract to do research on that drug. In other words approving a drug would only put them out of another job.
Keep in mind also that drugs usually get approved because the drug company is trying to get apporval for them so that they can get a patent. But since Naltrexone was approved for the treatment of drug and alcohol abuse years and years ago, the patent has expired and therefore the drug companies cannot make big money on it. Since they cannot make the big money now on it, they will not put one penny into doing any research to get it approved for another use although it has the possibility to improve the lives of hundreds of thousends of people. They are in this for profit and could not care less about humanitarian purposes. Sad, isn't it?
Q: Naltrexone used for treatment of Sexual Addiction?
My doctor just prescribed Naltrexone for me in attempt to treat my sexual addiction problem. Does anyone know about how successful this medication works for the treatment of sexual addictions? The drug is really used for Alcohol abuse treatment and people addicted to Heroion.
I checked the net but could not find anything that mentioned specifically of its use to treat sexual addictions.
A: The person to ask is your Dr. have him to explain the chemical and neurological processes involved in both your addiction and why he thinksthe drug will treat it.
Q: Anyone taking low dose naltrexone for treatment of MS?
I'm trying to convince my doctor to prescribe this for me. She is hesitant because there have not been any clinical trials of this drug by the FDA for treatment of RRMS. Just want to know what any of you have experienced. I'm taking Copaxone currently and want to get off the daily injections!
A: I don't have MS and don't know anyone who has tried it, however the website below is a description from someone who has and it may help you somehow.
I can understand your wanting to try it and I can equally understand your doctors reluctance.
Hope that helps, I wish you well.
Q: Can naltrexone be stored in a refrigerator?
Will it be rendered ineffective if stored in a refrigerator at around 0 - 3 degrees celsius?
It is also to be dissolved in solution
A: As long as it doesn't freeze.
Q: were can naltrexone, naloxone, and nalmephine be found on a natural state suchas food pruducts?
I would really appretiate if anybody could answer or in any case anybody knoes of any natural opiate blockers.
I do relize that this is kind of a hard question but an answer could really be helpful.
Thank you
A: Nowhere.
Opiates in natural plants are their defense against being eaten -- they are toxic as hell. Plants have no reason to stock nontoxic antidotes, so they don't.
It is a common mistake to think the "beneficial" substances occur in nature for our benefit. They don't; the organism that has them usually has them for its own selfish reason, occassionally we luck into having them be helpful to us. Most of the time we have to synthesize stuff.
